The Complementary and Supplementary Income Insurance

The Complementary Income Insurance is a part of the membership of Läkarförbundet (and only members who register at The Public Employment Service and the Unemployment Fund after this date is eligible for compensation).

If unemployed, the Complementary Income Insurance gives you 80 percent (in some cases 65 percent depending on the level of compensation from the Unemployment Fund) of your previous income (max income 100 000 SEK), for about six months.

The Complementary Income Insurance is a complement to the compensation you get from the Unemployment Fund (A-kassan). The Unemployment Insurance gives you 80 percent of your income, but does not compensate for incomes over 18 700 SEK/month. The maximum compensation from the Unemployment Insurance is therefore 14 960 SEK/month.

A great part of the members of Läkarförbundet earn more than the maximum income in the Unemployment Insurance. There is therefore a need for stronger income security among the members.

The Complementary Income Insurance covers all working members of Sveriges Läkarförbund, until the end of the month before the member turns 65, and is covered by the membership fee to Läkarförbundet.
